Dirt tracks are exactly what they sound like, tracks with a dirt surface. NASCAR's roots are on dirt. But with the rapid growth of the sport shortly after its inception, the tracks evolved and moved to asphalt. Recently, NASCAR has returned to dirt for a few select events.
